Itinerary

Day 1 — Arrive Djibouti — Lake Assal

Arrive Djibouti City. Drive directly to Lake Assal (120km west, approximately 2 hours). Africa’s lowest point at −155m. Float in the hyper-saline water. White salt crystal formations. Return to Djibouti City.

Day 2 — Lac Abbé Full Day

Early start for Lac Abbé (160km southwest, approximately 3 hours). Full day among the limestone chimneys — steaming vents, flamingos in the shallows, alien landscape. Sunrise or sunset are ideal.

Day 3 — Whale Sharks or Day Forest — Depart

Morning whale shark snorkelling in the Gulf of Tadjoura (Nov–Feb) or Day Forest National Park. Afternoon departure.
